Open to all teachers, teaching assistants, and local leaders who have questions concerning the new laws governing certification, professional development hours, and options to obtain the proper credentials.
10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Presentation: An overview of certification in NYS including addressing the FAQs of certification:
a. Moving from initial certification to professional certification: what are the actual requirements and available options should a member not meet them
b. Professional development requirements: what are they currently, when will they change due to the 2015 Budget and what do we know about those new requirements at this time
c. NYSUT resources available to members with certification questions
12:00 noon – 3:00 pm
Individual appointments with an expert from NYSUT Research & Educational Services (10 minute time slot per person): One-to-one assistance for members with specific certification questions. We will use laptops to access SED's TEACH system. Please indicate on form (below) if you will stay for an individual appointment.
Materials to bring? Nothing but yourselves!
There is no cost for this workshop.
