Graduate Class available from Balwin Teacher Center
I have just been notified that the Balwin Teacher Center has openings in a Brooklyn College graduate course entitled “LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS “
Course scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 1/27/15 @ 4:00 P.M.
Location: Baldwin Middle School, 3211 Schreiber Place, Baldwin, NY 11510

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES EXTENSION CERTIFICATE (12 credits)
Certified teachers who seek an additional certification in Students with Disabilities at the same developmental level of their current educational degrees can fulfill certification requirements by taking four courses through Brooklyn College.
Those pursuing this certificate must apply on their own to the NYS Education Department via the Individual Pathway. They must also pass the Content Specialty Test for Students with Disabilities and attend a mandated workshop in meeting the needs of students with autism and another 6-hour DASA workshop.
Required courses in the four NYSED competency areas offered by Brooklyn College:

• Curriculum Modifications For Teaching Students With Special Needs (March ’15)
• Educational Assessment Of Young Children And Students W/ Special Needs (June ’15)
