Preparing Students for the new Social Studies Regents: Teaching the Social Studies Practices as well as the Content in the New Framework, grades 7th – 11th

This one day workshop will help teachers make the instructional shifts identified in the new Social Studies Framework and reflected in the prototype of the new Regents examinations. Specific examples developed by Mrs. Grant will be used to illustrate how to teach required content as well as the skills identified in the Social Studies Practices. The first three of these practices, the Historical Thinking Skills, which are at the core of all Inquiry instruction, will be given special emphasis.

This workshop is intended for teachers of Social Studies grades 7 -11.
